Figs in Blue Cheese Sauce

Figs in Blue Cheese Sauce

When an offer of "Free Figs" comes up, my answer is always "Yes, please! Can I have them all?" As these were little guys, I didn't think stuffing them would be the best idea. That's when this sauce idea came to me!  This still made it party-friendly just with some toothpicks, but a little less labor intensive.
(note: a little crumble of bacon on here at the end might be a good suggestion, but I only thought of it afterwards!

Ingredients:
24 figs, cleaned (depending on size)
1/2 cup cream
5 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Warm cream in a saucepan by bringing to a gentle boil over a medium-to-low flame. Simmer 3-5 minutes, stirring as the cream thickens. Stir to keep from burning. Add half the blue cheese. Break up and help melt into the sauce.  Add Worcestershire sauce.

Continue simmering for 3-5 minute more until thick. Add remaining blue cheese. (I turned my off and let it rest a few minutes and it set.)

Arrange figs in an oven proof dish. (It will need a lid or tin foil.)

Pour sauce over figs.  Cover and bake for about 7 minutes. Allow it to rest a few minutes. Serve warm.
