San Francisco Foodie Trip

San Francisco in Food

"If you are going to San Francisco..."

This summer I took a vacation to California, and as all of you probably know about me by now: I Love Food! This city, and trip, had so many different food activities, types of food, etc.  I highly recommend putting this city on your bucket list.

I highlighted two different food adventures in separate blog posts:

This may not be in the order, but I had to put this picture right away - I was SO excited to see Chris Constantino (Top Chef Masters Champion!) at the Ferry Building Market on a Sunday morning.  He had a huge pallette of food he was taking away, and I am guessing he had just checked in on his salumeria: Boccalone: Tasty Salted Pig Parts.

Chris Constantino and Me!
There is just something about this city.  Here you can see fruit on the side of the road:

Chinatown

Rizwan and I ordered a Fig Jam with a variety of cheeses
I love how much fruit is readily available to purchase on the streets.

I wanted to make sure to experience things that were stereotypical to this city.  I used my Yelp app while I was at Pier 39 to see who had the best clam chowder.  Fog Harbor had the best ratings, so this is where I landed for lunch.

San Francisco is also the home of Sourdough Bread.  So how appropriate to have Clam Chowder in a Sourdough Bread Bowl.   (plus, you can't go wrong with a glass of Pinot Grigio!)

Next Stop: Ghirardelli

So much chocolate - I brought some home for the girls

The highlight of this stop was what is in this phenomenal little cup. I didn't see exactly what I knew I wanted on the menu, but after describing it to the cashier, she was super helpful.
I ordered a Salted Carmel Mocha. Rich, luscious, and a meal in itself.

(I especially liked that they added an extra ghirardelli square that I dipped into the whip cream!)

The Farmers Market at the Ferry Building was amazing.  It had such a large variety of food. You could purchase anything from the regular ferry building stores, or the additional vendors outside.  They cooked fresh food right out there, plus had drinks and breakfast items.  Definitely put this on your to do list.

Part of my Breakfast

Loved this little kid watching the live crab :-)
Inside the Ferry Building
I have always had a fascination with
Dragon Fruit

Other Foods we ate:

Casas's Nachos with two types of beans
Lamb Taco at Casa

Had to eat these San Fran Classics:
Coppola wine, with Pizza from Cafe Zoetrope
This was part of an amazing meal, but the burrata (which
if you ever see on a menu, you have to get) with basil melon.
Mouthwatering!

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.............
