Summertime White Wine Sangria

Summertime White Wine Sangria

When it's summertime in Charlotte, it is great to be outside and at the pool.  We had a pool party for a friend's birthday, and this was the birthday girl's request.  I was expecting it to be good, but honestly, it was great!  The peaches and other fruits really added another layer of tastiness. It was refreshing, chilled, and perfect for the pool!
  • 1 orange (sliced)
  • 1 lemon (sliced)
  • 1 pint Strawberries, sliced or quartered
  • 2 peaches, chopped
  • 1 liter white wine (I like a Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 2 shots of fruit-flavored vodka
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 liter of ginger ale or club soda (ginger ale for those with a sweeter tooth!)
Orange, Lemon, and Peach from Backyard Produce

Pour wine, vodka, and sugar in the pitcher(s). Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Squeeze the juice from sliced fruit (orange and lemon) the into the wine. Toss in the chopped fruit (strawberries and peaches.)

Chill for 4 hours or more.

Ladle wine into glass and add ginger ale or club soda just before serving.

(I highly recommend you drink this at the pool!) :-)

Addition ideas: handful of fresh blueberries, raspberries, kiwi, a shot or two of gin, brandy or rum, a cup of citrus-flavored soda.
